Sweet Sriracha Meatballs ยท Easy House Recipes

Candy and spicy Sweet Sriracha Meatballs are right here to mix up your dinner routine! With the right steadiness of sweetness, warmth, and flavorful taste, this easy meal concept is certain to delight. Serve it over rice or convert it into a crowd-pleasing appetizer for a celebrationโ€”any manner you serve these tender, saucy meatballs, theyโ€™re going to be a hit!

Sweet Sriracha Meatballs โ€“ The EASY Method!

Remember these Slow Cooker Occasion Meatballs everyone flocks to at household get-togethers? These Sweet Sriracha Meatballs are a bit similar to that, but with an Asian-inspired twistโ€”just like my Pineapple Teriyaki Meatballs but this time that Asian twist comes with a punch!

Donโ€™t worry, thoughโ€”the punch is not enough to make these pork meatballs fiery hot. Instead, you get just the right amount of sweet warmth in the sticky honey sauce. (If youโ€™re still nervous, you can always use less sriracha in the sauce and let the more adventurous eaters in your family add extra to their servings.)

While I adore serving this Sweet Sriracha Meatball recipe over rice or with stir-fried greens for a simple weeknight dinner, itโ€™s also perfect party food. Spear them onto toothpicks (maybe with a bit of pineapple like my Hawaiian Meatballs!), set them on a platter, and watch them vanish!

    Why I ADORE this recipe!

    • Straightforward to make โ€“ Although this may appear like a recipe that might take a while, it actually comes together with just fifteen minutes of prep and fifteen minutes of cooking. Simple!
    • Perfect harmony of flavors โ€“ These sriracha meatballs are sweet, savory, and spicyโ€”the sticky sauce that goes with them is lick-the-spoon delightful.
    • Adaptable โ€“ Make them as a quick dinner or a freezer meal; serve them as an appetizer for a celebration or over rice for a weeknight. You have plenty of choices here!
    • Straightforward to adjust for selective eaters โ€“ Dial back the sriracha and even kids who balk at the smallest speck of black pepper in a recipe will devour these easy honey sriracha meatballs.

    Items + Substitutions

    For the meatballs

    • Ground pork โ€“ I think the flavor of pork works well with the sticky-sweet sauce in these honey-glazed sriracha meatballs. You can substitute ground chicken, ground turkey, or a blend if you prefer.
    • Onion โ€“ Yellow, white, or a sweet onion will all work well
    • Panko bread crumbs โ€“ To help bind your meatballs together; use gluten-free panko if necessary.
    • Egg
    • Garlic
    • Ginger โ€“ Fresh ginger is much more pungent than dried, adding a lot of flavor and moisture to sweet and spicy sriracha meatballs.
    • Salt
    • Sesame oil โ€“ If you donโ€™t have sesame oil, any neutral-flavored cooking oil will work.

    For the sauce

    • Butter
    • Honey โ€“ Use a runny honey, not the solid type that comes compacted in a jar.
    • Sriracha โ€“ Feel free to add more or less, according to your familyโ€™s preferences on spice level.
    • Soy sauce โ€“ Use tamari for a gluten-free option.
    • Fresh lime juice

    Garnish (optional)

How to make sweet sriracha meatballs: 1) Combine the meatball items, 2) Sear the meatballs in a skillet, 3) Make the sauce, 4) Simmer the meatballs in the sauce

    Hints for the Recipe

    1. Chop the onion finely โ€“ At first, avoid large onion chunks in your meatballs, they can be unpleasant to chew into! More significantly, finely diced or grated onions will add extra moisture to those sriracha meatballs, making them more tender. Use a mini food chopper to get them really tiny!
    2. Prepare your ingredients in advance โ€“ This is a recipe that moves quickly, so have all your components ready before you start cooking. You wonโ€™t have time to stop and chop or measure once you begin!
    3. Beat the sauce well โ€“ The butter wonโ€™t integrate into the rest of the sauce ingredients at first, but keep whisking! It will eventually come together, forming a thick, sticky coating on your sweet and spicy meatballs.
    4. Heat the pan before adding the meatballs โ€“ You want the pan and oil to be really hot so that you get a nice sear on the exterior of the meatballs. Then, you’ll simmer them in the sauce until the meatballs reach 160ยบF.

    Short Cuts for the Recipe

If you need to make this recipe, but are extra short on time, here are a few ideas that can help make this recipe even faster!

    • Use store bought pre-minced garlic and ginger โ€“ Thereโ€™s no shame in keeping these on hand in the fridge to get dinner on the table a little faster!
    • Buy a pouch of ready-rice โ€“ Plan on serving your honey sriracha meatballs over rice? A pouch of microwaveable riceโ€”the type thatโ€™s ready in 90 secondsโ€”will shave some extra time off your meal prep.
    • Use a food processor or chopper to quickly mince the onion โ€“ Again, you need a very fine dice and even grated onion, so a food processor or chopper will make fast work of it.
    • Skip making the meatballs โ€“ If you’ve frozen a batch of Homestyle Meatballs or want to buy a package of meatballs from the grocery store, you can use those instead of making your own.

    Different Versions of the Recipe

If you love this recipe as much as we do and want some quick ways to change it up for variety, these little suggestions will do the trick!

    • Honey Sriracha Turkey Meatballs โ€“ Use ground turkey instead of pork to make the meatballs for this recipe.
    • Honey Sriracha Chicken Meatballs โ€“ Similar idea as above! Swap ground chicken in for the ground pork.
    • BBQ Sriracha Meatballs โ€“ Instead of making the sauce for this recipe, use your favorite barbecue sauce. Then, add sriracha to taste.
    • Sriracha Teriyaki Meatballs โ€“ Again, skip the sauce for this recipe and substitute a bottle of teriyaki sauce. Add sriracha to taste.
